Petition for Change Over Victor the Bear

Petition for Change Over Victor the Bear

This bear named VICTOR had been a regular visitor in Mammoth Lakes Ca camp grounds ( Lake George , Lake Mary and Coldwater ) for at least 4 to 5 years now. Locals personally have had many encounters with him, and never once felt threatened or seen him be aggressive !! In fact you can ask any camper that has been going to those camp grounds over the years what a big part of there camp story’s have Victor in them ? Last night he was put to sleep because of a incident that took place with some camper. The video displays a gal standing on a tree stump trying to get a picture of Victor and she was too close to him and his food so he sent her a warning shot and swiped her leg. Many people are heart broken to say the least , we understand he is a wild animal but that is even more reason to not get close or to forget we are in there home !!!! We are asking everyone to please help us get this out and to reshare it! Here is the link for Petition For Change in honor or Victor’s senseless murder!

VICTOR Spent his life in the wilds of the Eastern Sierra, never harmed a soul. Only to be euthanized and thrown out like trash by the CDFW. People are disgusted. Absolutely appalled. Updated to add: The Bishop Paiute Tribe went and recovered Victor’s body & gave him a proper burial down by the river on the reservation. They left him offerings and were able to give him a goodbye in accordance with their traditions. Due to this, it was a private ceremony that took place this morning. We are so happy he was laid to rest in a deserving way instead of left to rot with the garbage at the landfill.

RIP Victor and may your murder not be in vain but to bring awareness of our govt
officials who have zero respect for the lives of our wildlife and we need change. Remove these heartless/souless govt officials and replace them with someone like our bear whisperer Steve Searles!

Everyone from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife who was involved in this horrible decision needs to be removed from their positions

The recklessness of the campers having open alcohol, waving to the bear with a claw shaped ended gesture, and the lack of communication from the other campers to get away from Victor was pure negligence on their part. I know when things are happening in the moment, you might not think of your actions, but the campers were drinking and being completely irresponsible. The wild life department should have taken this into consideration prior to their execution of action.
